BPC Programs

The Population Center manages two special programs designed to prepare students and early career researchers with the tools of population science.

  • With funding from the National Institute on Aging, Cal-ADAR is  designed to give underrepresented students a chance to experience research as undergraduates while studying the demography of aging, which is officially a STEM subject.

  • The Formal Demography summer program is a one week workshop designed for early career researchers from any discipline - demography, sociology, economics, public health, statistics and others, seeking to expand their expertise in the tools of population science.  Special topics change annually.
